Google Ads for Home & Garden

Home and garden acquisition connects product detail, delivery economics and seasonal demand. A bulky order and a small accessory cannot share every assumption.

Separate shipping economics before scaling

Large or fragile items can absorb far more contribution through freight, handling and damage than small accessories. Review shipping subsidy by product family and destination. A high order value does not automatically mean a high acquisition allowance. Consider cancellations and failed deliveries where they materially change the economics.

Describe dimensions, material and intended use

A buyer may need to know whether the item fits a room, doorway, patio or existing fitting. Make dimensions and material accurate in the feed and visible on the destination. An illustrative “garden table” may need seating capacity, material and dimensions to express the buying decision. Do not add attributes solely because they appear in popular searches.

Make the catalogue intelligible

Use a product taxonomy that supports meaningful groups, such as indoor versus outdoor use, bulky versus parcel delivery, or replenishable versus seasonal stock. Keep the operational rules documented. Avoid splitting a large catalogue into campaigns merely because the category tree is large.

Handle seasonal demand with stock and delivery context

Garden demand can shift before fulfilment capacity or stock catches up. Record lead times, replenishment dates and promotions when reviewing performance. A product with a strong historical conversion rate may become unsuitable for acquisition if delivery now misses the buyer’s intended occasion.

Use Search for the decision the feed cannot fully express

Relevant Search activity can address considered category intent, but the landing page needs to answer that intent. A category page for a specific material or use case should make the selection easier, not send visitors into an unfiltered catalogue. Shopping and Performance Max still need accurate product-level inputs.

Reduce expensive uncertainty on the product page

Check scale imagery, dimensions, assembly requirements, materials, delivery conditions and return implications. For bulky goods, delivery information may influence the decision before checkout. Test one concrete information gap at a time instead of assuming a shorter page is always better.

Example diagnostic sequence

Methodology example: investigate a high-value product family with weak post-ad contribution. Reconcile freight subsidy and cancellation cost, inspect delivery information, then compare device and destination behaviour. A fulfilment or page-information change may be more useful than increasing spend. This example is not client performance data.

How I would start

First establish the measurement and product economics, then choose the feed, campaign or store constraint worth addressing. The €650 diagnostic provides a prioritised roadmap and review call. Ongoing management is scoped by catalogue, markets and implementation complexity.
